A Little Bit of Trouble... (Open) (1st Jan 08 at 3:24am)
Daiyu stepped from the boat that had carried her from the main ship and looked up the beach towards the man standing there, his hands clasped together as he waited for the students from Balamb. The small island of Besaid had been attacked by Sin and though it had only been a brief attack, the Garden had sent some of its students to aid with the recovery. The Wutaian girl had been one of those chosen to go, but Daiyu looked less than pleased about the chance to demonstrate what she’d learned. Making a sound of irritation, Daiyu pulled her black hair over one shoulder, allowing a cool breeze to reach the back of her neck. In her opinion, Besaid could handle its problems well enough on its own and the students could be sent somewhere cooler that needed them more, but no, the school had decided they were needed here. The sooner they could get this over with, the better, and Daiyu impatiently watched as their teacher approached the man. After a moment, the teacher returned and the students split into two groups – one group to scour the Island for any monsters that might’ve been left behind by Sin’s attack and another group to aid the survivors in the village. Daiyu was sent with the first group and for the first time since leaving the Garden, a smirk lit her face. For once, she was actually pleasant as another student paired up with her and they ran off to start the search for monsters on the eastern side of the island. Their exact orders were simple enough, kill any monsters they encountered. If the monster was too strong, they were to signal for aid and retreat until back-up arrived. All the monsters were expected to be low-level though, so it wasn’t expected to be an issue. A few monsters later and Daiyu was having fun, her initial frustration fading with each battle. Now though, she and the other student had encountered a crab-like monster. The initial scan showed that it was pretty high-level but it had seen them before they’d seen it and in a unique display of intelligence had cornered them against a cliff-face. The other student sent up a beacon that would flare brightly in the sky for up to half an hour, more then enough time for a rescue team to arrive, while Daiyu parried the crab-creatures attacks with her naginata. She wouldn’t be able to block it forever, but at the moment, they were trapped, the only route out being a potentially suicidal drop into the sea. ((OOC: Feel free to come and rescue the students. Someone could even be the other student, who I haven’t even specified a gender for. ^_^))

Rikku had been helping with the clean-up of Besaid when she saw one of the destress signals go up from the Seed group. Dropping what she was doing she began to rush to where it came from. "S'cuse me, coming through!" It seemed that she was the only one who had noticed so far but she had no time to stop and grab anyone to come and help. Who knows how long the singal had been there already? Jumping over rocks and racing past rumble from houses Rikku finally made her way out into the forest. Looking up at the sky every so often to check her location in comparison to the singal Rikku was able to pin point where they were. Pushing through bushes and into a small clearly Rikku saw two people and... "Crabby! Now thats annoying" Running at the crab monster and pulling out her weapons she sliced at it as she ran past and turned on her heel to stop right in front of the two. "Hiya!" Rikku grinned at the two then ran back in a slashed at the crab, she was having all to much fun but she could stilluse some help too. "I'll keep it busy, its a water based fiend use thunder on it and quickly while a buy you some time."

Daiyu’s partner let out a worried sigh, looking in the direction of the village. “I hope someone sees that…” But Daiyu ignored her and used one of her stocked fire magic against the crab creature, fire licking around what may have been its face for a moment before the flames died away again, leaving the crab creature undeterred. Biting her lip, Daiyu stepped backwards, trying to think of what other magic she had stocked, but with the stress of the situation, her mind was blank and she glanced quickly to her partner, halfway acknowledging her for once. The other girl however, hadn’t paused after Daiyu’s fire spell and had leapt forward to land a good hit on the creature with her gigantic hammer. Unfortunately, the crab retailiated by swinging it’s claw at her, sending her flying backwards into the cliff wall behind them. The lucky hit knocked the girl unconscious, but before Daiyu could do anything, a new person’s voice distracted her and the crab creature. Abruptly, a tall blonde girl joined her, her expression confident as the crab faltered from the deep slashes this new girl had inflicted. Daiyu didn’t return Rikku’s grin with one of her own, and instead gave her a brief nod as her lips tightened into a thin line. She did not like having to rely on others, especially not someone who looked like one of the simple-minded island villagers, but what choice did she have? Rikku’s word of advice reminded her that she did have some thunder magic stocked so she took a step back, letting go of her naginata with one hand to point at the creature. A bolt of lightning came from the sky, hitting the creature heavily and it let out an angry hiss of pain as, for once, it retreated a few steps.

Kaze had been sent to a different mission but was soon directed towards Daiyu's location to give assistance any way that he could. Kaze had better things to do, like his SeeD exam. But Kaze went anyways. The garden had given him a boat so that he could travel as he pleased but when the time came the boat switched to auto pilot, so to be truthful Kaze couldn't go to his SeeD exam until the matter at hand was resolved. Kaze hit the shore in his boat A video of the situation that was going on with Daiyu's group appearing on a monitor in the boat. "So this is why I'm here? Alright, lets go take care of things" Kaze jumped out of his boat with his E-Blade in hand and started to run to the group. When he got there Kaze drew his E-blade and tossed the sheath to the ground a smile passing on his lips. Kaze looked to the group that seemed to be in a tight spot."You know it is supposed to be three to a group." Kaze tightened his grip on the handle and the blade heated to the melting point of steel. Kaze dashed at the crab, and the crab tried to swipe at him with it's claw. Kaze ran up it's claw dragging his E-Blade up the claw of the beast cutting through it's claw like paper. The beast lunged back in pain and fell over on it's side. Kaze jumped from it and dashed forward slashing open it's stumic the beast dieing a few seconds afterwards. Kaze went back and picked up his sheath giving a smile to Daiyu."Well can I get a thank you please?"

The thunder came and the crab retreated but before Rikku could go in for the kill, her kill was stolen. She took a step back to stand near the girls she was here to save and crossed her arms as they watched a man just steal her limelight. Well she doubted that that was how everyone else saw it but she did. She raised her eyebrow as he killed it off with ease and then she frowned. "A thank you!?" Walking over to the man she poked him on the chest. "Thank you for what? For showing up and stealing my kill, I woulda just been fine and it looks like that girl woulda been too." She pointed to Daiyu all pouty like, she wasn't pissed off all that much, more like a playful pissed off. With an over dramatic sigh she waved her arms around. "What about my thank you! Men!" And with that she turned her back to him and took a few steps away, the slightest of grins on her face Would he bite?

Rikku may have been annoyed by losing her limelight, but Daiyu was absolutely furious. She managed to keep her temper in check though and only nodded tersely to Kaze and Rikku in thanks before turning to her companion. Luckily, the other girl, Meru, had only been dazed and a low level cure spell from Daiyu snapped her out of it. Blinking up at her companion, she noted the annoyed look on Daiyu’s face and saw the two standing nearby, instantly guessing on what had happened. Meru didn’t know the other Balamb student that well, but the Wutaian had a bit of a reputation for being less then friendly. Quickly scrambling to her feet, she ran over to the two, grinning to them and saying a happy, “Thank you both!” Daiyu for her part, rolled her eyes and followed, standing slightly behind her more hyper partner. It was only then that she chose to answer Kaze’s inane comment, her tone sharp and slightly snobbish. “Professor Gresten told us it was to be two to a group. You probably weren’t listening.”

Kaze looked to the blond haired girl with a new found fondness but decided not to go with his instincts this time and save him self the embarrassment of failure. Though Kaze was a bit mad about how Daiyu talked to him. If for no other reason then because he was supposed to be on a mission to save a girl and escort her to the garden. Of course now he wasn't going to be able to do that and she was most likely being raped or worse. All thanks to Daiyu and her friend. Kaze walked over to her clinching the handle of his E-Blade so hard that his knuckles were turning white. Yet when he spoke it would be calm as if he wasn't angry at all. "It doesn't matter what the professor said. You and I both know the official rules of the garden. Once your out of the missions then you'll be allowed to go in groups of two if not by your self. But were both not there yet. So just in case you forgot that I have a direct link to the garden in my boat. Would you like to come talk to the professor?" Whit that said Kaze would look at Rikku trying to keep him self from blurting something stupid out like. Your hair is blond or your eyes are swirly. He wasn't one for words which had always put up a language barrier between him and other people, one of the many reasons he didn't that many friends.

Rikku uncrossed her arms and smiled brightly as Meru came up to thank her, and the other guy but it was short lived. She watched with amusement as the tension built between Kaze and Daiyu, both who were more than slightly annoyed at each other. She honestly thought Kaze would cut Daiyu’s head off with the way he walked up to her clenching his sword but instead he simply talked calmly to her. Rikku positioned herself between the two but not directly in their firing range so that she could watch the fight. She rested her finger on her check and listened very intently, will as intently as Rikku could, but before anything else was said she saw Kaze’s gaze glance over to her. She straightened slightly and stared straight back at him, a sort of puzzled look on her face.

Daiyu’s hand tightened on her naginata but she bit the inside of her cheek to keep any biting comments from escaping and instead just shook her head once at his question. He was probably right, but she was one of the more advanced students and Meru was getting close to graduating so she’d thought that just teaming up with the older girl would be better. Annoyed with the situation, she moved a short distance away and sat down, crossing her ankles and crosses her arms over her chest, resting her naginata next to her. Meru bit her lip as she looked back to Daiyu then sighed, rolling her eyes a little before looking back to Rikku. “Sorry about her. I’ve only ever seen her walking around in the Garden, but it never seems like she’s in a good mood. But anyway, my name is Meru Tsubasa and she’s Daiyu Ishikawa. And his name is Kaze…um…Voluntas.” She knew there names because before they’d come to the island, they’d been told their team assignments. Of course, Daiyu hadn’t wanted to wait for their last team member so ran off with him and Meru hadn’t wanted to argue with her since quite a few students had wound up in the nurse’s office after one of her temper flares. Daiyu, meanwhile, shifted where she was sitting, uncrossing her ankles to curl them up against the rock and sizing Rikku up. “Why are you here anyway?” she said, her tone actually leaning more towards genuine curiosity then snobbishness. She honestly was curious since the girl seemed different then the other islanders and actually, now that she was actually paying attention, she saw that it was more than just general attitude. The girl’s eyes were…swirly? Interesting…

Kaze kept his E-Blade tight with in his grasp the strain of the grip that he was placing on his blade made his knuckles turn a bit white. If for one thing he was here to save someone. Not only did they seem as though they could care less. One actually couldn't have cared less. He had heard of this sort of attitude from studies and lectures but not once in his life had he ever wondered across someone like her. On the other hand the two other women seemed to be beaming with cheer compared to her."Daiyu Ishikawa was it?" The question tasted like poison on his tong. Yet he kept his peace, his voice keeping calm. All the while staying fascinated with the island girl so much so that he didn't even wait for a answer from the other girl before speaking to her. "H-hello. I know you already know my name but I can't help introduce myself again. My name is Kaze." He couldn't believe how he was falling over his words and sounding like a child. He hopped that the island girl fell for idiots like himself.
